Known as the year’s can’t-miss student event, Elliv brings music, skits, and videos together for an unforgettable night full of hilarity and outstanding performances showcasing Cedarville’s talent.
Elliv first burst onto Cedarville’s campus in spring of 2000. A few SGA members put the event together to highlight student filmmakers in an Academy Awards style show. With only a few unpolished acts and a small budget, the first Elliv was simple but entertaining.
After a year off, Elliv returned in 2002 larger than before featuring more elaborate acts. The mock awards show of the first Elliv was replaced with awards recognizing Cedarville’s brightest talents. Since then, Elliv has continued to recognize these students while presenting bigger and better show-stopping acts every year.
This year, we’re celebrating a decade of Elliv red carpet style. We’re looking back at a year full of achievements and remembering the events that are quintessentially Cedarville. A program inspired by popular culture and events from the past year, Elliv 2010 will bring you recognizable songs and skits to thrill you from start to finish.
With incredible staging, lighting, and special effects, Elliv 2010 will combine the best performances with the best production Cedarville offers. We guarantee a night full of fun and amazing performances you won’t soon forget.

What is Elliv?
Elliv is an annual awards show that combines music, videos, and skits to highlight the past school year in a night full of fun and entertainment.
Why should I go to Elliv?
Elliv is the biggest event of the year, so you don’t want to miss out on it. It will showcase talent, music, and special effects with a massive stage design to transform the chapel into an all-out end-of-the-year party.
What should I wear?
That all depends on you. You can dress up as your favorite superhero or break out that prom dress you haven’t worn since twelfth grade. As long as it’s in dress code, it will work for Elliv.
Who pays for this event?
You do. All of the funding for Elliv comes from ticket sales.
What songs will be performed this year?
You’ll just have to come and find out.
How do I vote for award nominees?
A voting box will appear when you log on to a school computer starting Friday, April 9th

Basketball - Few Cedarville students will soon forget the epic white-out against Walsh when the Yellow Jackets upset the No. 1 team in the country. The Yellow Jackets went on to compete in NAIA Nationals, ending the season 26-9.
Cross country - The cross-country team shone once again as they placed second in the NCCAA National Championship and had one Yellow Jacket runner win the individual NCCAA National title. At NAIA Nationals, the Yellow Jackets finished in the Top 20 for the sixth time in the last seven years.
Track - The Yellow Jackets had an impressive showing during the early part of their season when they placed second in NCCAA indoor Nationals. They also had two Yellow Jackets named NAIA All-Americans. The track team looks to the rest of the outdoor season to build on its success.
Basketball - The Lady Jackets remained in the Top 25 NAIA poll all season and stood at No. 3 in the poll for four straight weeks. Their 18-game winning streak and their solid performance at NAIA Nationals made this year a great success for the Lady Jackets.
Volleyball - The Lady Jackets finished their season as the AMC runner up and had one player named to the AMC All-American first team. The team also had three players named NAIA scholars athletes.
Cross country - Like usual, the women’s cross-country team thrived this season. The Lady Jackets placed first at NCCAA Nationals and sixth at NAIA Nationals. They also had two players named NAIA All-Americans.
Adam Putinski - Need to create a website? Adam is your guy. Not only can he design the look of a website, but he can code the site and make it functional as well. And have you seen this year’s senior tee shirts or the green traveling team tee shirts? He designed those too.
Gabe Pyle - Gabe enjoys working with 3D art and creating tactile objects. He is majoring in the brand new industrial design major, which focuses on the aesthetic aspect of building and production, for example, car design. Look for his work—you might be driving in it one day.
Andy Cody - This graphic design major specializes in logos and identity design. He designs all the posters for the music department and enjoys creating new images for various companies and organizations.
Abby Trantina - Abby specializes in all things illustrative. The studio art and graphic design double major enjoys creating illustrations by hand and on the computer. Her work can be seen in the summer art show in the DMC.
Sarah Rothhaar - Oil? Water Color? Acrylic? It doesn’t matter to Sarah. All she needs is a paintbrush to make her happy. The studio art major loves any kind of painting and will paint just about any blank surface.
Abby Hearle - This graphic design major’s favorite art includes posters and print design. She designs print materials for departments all around campus and has helped design materials for Resound Radio and Elliv.
Michael Batts - You can catch Michael country rapping in the Hive during Interruption or break dancing in Elliv. His favorite performance was during last year’s Elliv when he and a group of guys sang and danced to the Backstreet Boys’ song "Larger than Life."
Garrett Rucinski - Garrett can often be found with a guitar slung over his back and singing a song when no one is around to listen. An aspiring recording artist, Garrett performs at local gigs and in the recording studio, and plays the guitar and sings in the Garrett Bryan Band. The singer/songwriter helped with Gathering as One, the worship time for local ministries.
Brian Johnson - Brian won Cedarville over when he sang as a freshman last year with the band The Rescue in the New Student Talent Show. His unmistakable voice can be heard in chapel, Jubilate, OneVoice Gospel Choir, Interruptions, and Encounter Worship, the student-led worship night. His favorite place to sing is anywhere OneVoice performs.
Matthew Scheerschmidt - If you missed him as Mr. DePinna in You Can't Take it With You, you might have seen him in Much Ado about Nothing or My Fair Lady. He sacrifices it all for the theatre, and even shaved his head for his role as Mr. DePinna. The vocal performance and theatre double major also makes his way around the music department singing in the Concert Chorale, Men's Glee Club, and the 'Ville Singers
Jessica Kolody - This music education major can be seen bouncing from one musical ensemble to the next. She participates in the band, flute choir, and women’s choir. She is the student conductor for the symphonic band and played in the pit orchestra for My Fair Lady.
Sarah Thompson - This music education major has her hand in every corner of the music department. She played the violin in the orchestra and trumpet in the band, and she sings in the Concert Chorale and the Vocal Arts Ensemble. She finds the time to play the guitar and sing in the worship band at her church as well as teach music lessons.
Samantha Grelen -The violin performance major can rarely be seen without her instrument. She plays in the Demerits as well as the chamber orchestra and the piano trio. She also plays on her own at various gigs in the community. Even with all her commitments, Samantha finds time to teach violin lessons.
Rachel Scherner - Who could forget Rachel’s performance as Beatrice in Much Ado about Nothing? Her charming wit and comedic timing won the audience over and destroyed any notions that Shakespeare could be boring. Her other credits include The Curious Savage, The Ideal Husband, and The Rabbit Hole.
Soup for the Soul (sponsored by Women of Vision) - Women of Vision took Cedarville students’ craving for homemade food and brought Soup for the Soul on March 11. Guest speakers discussed the worldwide poverty of women and children. The event raised money and awareness for World Vision’s Borders Project.
10K (race-sponsored by International Justice Mission) - Few people envision themselves ever waking up at 8:00 on a Saturday morning to run a 10K. But the International Justice Mission brought nearly 600 people together March 27 to run the 6.2 mile course in Massey Creek Park. The 10K raised over $20,000 for Gracehaven, a local safe house in Columbus.
Clue (sponsored by sophomore class) - The sophomore class transformed the BTS on Halloween to create one of the most memorable events of the year. The fun-filled night of characters, deception, and prizes left players eagerly awaiting a new game next year.
Amanda Graves -As a career services staff assistant, Amanda looks over students’ resumes and sends emails with job and internship information. Her favorite part of her job is the success she feels when someone she helped gets a job.
Joanna Pyles - Whether she’s checking out that Cedarville mug you bought for your mom’s birthday or relieving the shock when you see the bill for your textbooks, Joanna is ready to assist in any book-related needs. Her favorite time of year in the bookstore is the first week of the semester when all the students are buying their books.
Devin Babcock - We all remember the friendly admissions workers when we visited Cedarville our senior year of high school. Devin makes the college search process a little easier. A three-year veteran admissions worker, Devin’s favorite part of the job is helping people learn about Cedarville who know nothing about it.
Asheritah Oana - This student worker divides her time between the Curriculum Material Center in the library and the Writing Center. Whether she’s helping an early education major find the perfect book for a teaching lesson or helping a freshman with a composition paper, Asheritah makes sure students have all the resources necessary to succeed in class.
